The Alpena Lighthouse is in need of volunteers for various activities such as fundraising, organizing exhibits and educational programs, planning special events, grant writing, publicity, general house keeping and cleaning the lighthouses interior regularly. Your volunteerism could be a “one-shot” contribution or a regularly scheduled donation of your talents.
Almost 100 years of constant use and weathering the elements has left Alpena Lighthouse in need of repairs. The lighthouse requires complete interior renovation and exterior restoration. We hope to locate dedicated community residents and volunteers to not only help restore this historic treasure. With your help, we will succeed in preserving and maintaining this historic lighthouse for future generations.
NOTE: There is no lodging available of any type at the lighthouses, any volunteers must provide their own lodging and food.
The Michigan Lighthouse Conservancy prohibits discrimination in all programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status.
